Our ancient village cottage, L'Hirondelle, is in the northern Dordogne picturesque village of Vayres.
The 17th Century cottage sleeps 4/6 people over two levels and has been lovingly restored to reveal original oak beams, a traditional fire place, oak staircase and feature charente stone sink.Vayres is a traditional French village surrounded by lush green pasture land, a variety of swimming lakes and is close to the historic Richard the Lion Heart Route.
The village has 2 boulangeries (bread shops), boucherie (butcher), a bar, a post office and local grocer, plus a local fish man who visits every Thursday. Both boulangeries are only two minutes walk from the cottage - perfect for a leisurely breakfast!
